If your name is Amy, why is your business called Sweet Stella Designs?
Stella is actually my adorable kitty! She’s been my companion since I started my business in 2006 and has been living with me since 2008 (it’s a long story…). I thought the name “Stella” had a better ring to it than “Amy.” Plus, Stella really is sweet – except when she’s destroying my furniture or climbing all over me while I am trying to sleep.
What's the deal with tiny foods?
Food is delicious! And it's familiar to us. People instantly connect with my jewelry designs because the miniature foods are not only easily recognizable, but inspire memories and feelings of comfort and familiarity as well. The scale change transforms these iconic foods that we love in to something that's super cute and collectible.
How do you make your little clay treats?
My process begins with dreaming up ideas for mini food jewelry - it usually involves a trip to the market or a favorite bakery. I adore the colors, textures, shapes and forms of food, and an ordinary meal or snack can often offer me extraordinary inspiration. I often will sketch or doodle ideas or make a list of what I want to create. Then, I sculpt and mold polymer clay pieces to form the tiny foods, adding texture and realistic details that often involve several trips to the oven for the pieces to bake. Next comes a coat of durable UV-cure resin to add shine when needed and then it's time to make the pieces in to jewelry and accessories by adding findings and finishing touches!
I have a very specific idea for a jewelry piece. Can you make it for me?
Definitely! I love creating custom orders and I’d be thrilled to hear your ideas. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I care for my Sweet Stella Designs jewelry?
Many pieces are delicate, please handle them with care! Polish silver and plated components with a polishing cloth. Do not use creams. Avoid exposure to moisture and direct sunlight. In general, please use care and common sense when handling, wearing, and storing your jewelry pieces. They're not indestructible! Aside from the barrettes or hairpins, I do not recommend my items for very young children.
Can I send you a picture of me wearing my Sweet Stella Designs jewelry piece?
Yes! With your permission, I would also love to add your photo to my collection for a future online gallery! Please email photos to email@example.com
